Christina L. Dryden, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Integrative Sciences

Dr. Christina L. Dryden is a marine environmental chemist /analytical chemist/chemical oceanographer and a Charter Faculty member at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology.  She received a B.S. in Chemistry from Salisbury University and a Ph.D. in Oceanography from the Old Dominion University.  Dr. Dryden began her academic career as a summer student employee at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab and prior to joining the faculty at HU was an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Old Dominion University.  Dr. Dryden works on various aspects of trace metals (copper, cadmium, zinc) cycling in aquatic systems. The biogeochemical cycling of these elements affects the ecology of microorganisms in marine and estuarine systems.  The majority of her research has focused on investigating the interactive response of microbial communities to copper stress.  Dr. Dryden has published in peer-reviewed journals on this topic and given presentations at regional, national, and international conferences.  As a faculty member at HU, she has become involved in incorporating technology in the classroom and the HU learning experience.
