Joseph E. Cannon, Ph.D.
Professor of Computer and Information Sciences
Dr. Cannon received his Ph.D. in computer information systems from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. He also holds a master’s degree in engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Physics minor from LaSalle University. Dr. Cannon began his teaching career at DeSales University where he was an adjunct professor of computer science before accepting the position of associate professor of computer information systems at Prince George’s Community College. In 2001, Dr. Cannon transferred to Kutztown University where he taught graduate and undergraduate computer science courses. Dr. Cannon’s ongoing areas of research at Harrisburg University include developing efficient algorithms to update beliefs in Bayesian Belief Networks by utilizing parallel processing methods and cluster computing technology.
