HU will open even more doors to the best and brightest students of the future with the grand opening of our brand new Academic Center on the corner of Fourth and Market, downtown Harrisburg. Located in the hub of the city’s downtown district, this sleek new, ultramodern complex will also connect directly to Strawberry Square, a distinctive retail complex, and serve as headquarters for the National Center for Science and Civic Engagement.
The $73-million Academic Center includes 16 stories and 371,000 square feet of state-of-the art classroom space, scientific teaching labs, meeting areas, seminar rooms, parking, and a 125-seat auditorium. Students will have access to a new 20,000 volume library and enjoy an open courtyard designed for studying and mingling between classes. Just as Harrisburg University’s academic programs represent the emerging fields of 21st century science and technology, our new Academic Center will likewise promote the most modern learning amenities like wireless Internet access, video-conferencing capabilities and a multi-media production facility.
