Nanobiotechnology Camp

8:30am – 12:30pm

This two-week summer camp is designed for high school students seeking opportunities to learn more about nanobiotechnology. Offered as a Dual Enrollment course, participants in the camp will receive 2 college credits at the successful completion of the program.

Topics

  • Basics of Nanobiotechnology
  • Nanomaterials
  • Nanotherapy & Nanodiagnostics
  • DNA & Protein-based Biosensors
  • Characterization techniques such as:
    • Atomic Force Microscopy
    • Electron Microscopy
    • Fluorescence Spectroscopy

Instruction

The camp will be lead by Harrisburg University faculty and will consist of lecture components, lab experiments and class discussion.

Field Trips

Students will take field trips to biotechnology-based facilities such as:
Hanson Technologies
Aptagen, LLC
Penn State Nanofabrication facility

Prequisites

To be prepared for the course, students interested in enrolling in the camp should have completed two of the following high school classes:
Biology
Chemistry
Algebra

Application Process

Applicants should complete the following:
Dual Enrollment Application for Admission
Submit a HS Transcript
Sit for the COMPASS placement exam (if necessary)
