The Project Leadership Forum
June 14-15, 2012

The Psychology of Project Leadership: Survival Skills for Discerning, Adapting and Continual Improvement

Project leadership encompasses the human aspects of project management that impact people, culture, and strategy. This ability surpasses mastery of a project management methodology. Project leadership includes the attitudes, skills and behaviors that enable project managers to become strategic partners with senior management and motivational leaders for their teams and colleagues.

In this day and age, organizations must adapt quickly, and with minimal disruption, or they risk becoming obsolete and alienating customers. Project leaders must possess a keen ability to recognize, understand, and adapt to change quickly and confidently, in order to succeed. Project leaders who adapt to change and enable continual improvement can contribute greatly to the organization's sustainability and success.

This year's forum will explore the psychology of project leadership by studying personality styles, factors that create individual motivation, and the skills to influence others.

The program will assist participants in learning how to:

  • Customize your interactions with others to appeal to different personality styles and preferences.
  • Assess the internal environment, such as organizational culture, team dynamics and personal preferences to apply the most appropriate style of leadership given the situation.
  • Detect and respond to changes in the external environment, such as drivers of an organization's strategy, and implement project management to the benefit of those strategies.

The Project Leadership Forum, an annual two-day professional development program for experienced project managers, explores going beyond the basics, to address the factors of strategy, culture and people in projects. Through keynote presentations, case studies and hands-on seminars, you'll learn to develop the essential skills that increase project success.
