Adult Students
Whether you are just starting your career, transitioning into a new field, or seeking advanced credentials through a Master’s Degree, Harrisburg University offers adult learners a wide range of programs for professional development or to pursue a new degree.
We know professional advancement is very often tied to your ability to ‘benchmark’ knowledge and skills through degrees and certifications. Therefore, we work with you to develop an educational plan that matches their professional needs and the opportunities we offer are always tied to those criteria. All University academics are derived from degree programs so credits you complete in a professional development module are automatically tracked towards a degree.
Academic Programs for adult students to consider:
- Start or complete your Bachelor’s Degree.
- Achieve a Master’s Degree as you climb the corporate ladder.
- Participate in Customized Workplace Training.
- Enroll in individual college courses.
- Take non-credit online IT training courses.
Flexibility for Adult students
Admission criteria for adults are comparable to that of traditional students. Adult students who have been out of high school for at least four years may be waived from the SAT/ACT requirement pending review by the admissions committee. However, a high school transcript and two letters of recommendation, one of which should be from a supervisor, will be required in lieu of the SAT or ACT.

The Employer Deferred Payment Plan—A unique payment option for adult students.
Harrisburg University aims to encourage professionals to pursue continuing education, and therefore seeks to reduce financial barriers that may prevent adult students from seeking professional development or completion of a degree. We have introduced an "Employer Deferred Payment Plan." Under this plan, if the student’s employer offers a tuition reimbursement benefit, the University can provide a tuition payment deferment until the end of the semester.
