More on PA STEM
An initiative of the National Governors Association and the Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania STEM Center Initiative develops and deploys statewide strategies and resources designed to enhance the Commonwealth’s education and workforce development efforts targeted at the development of a globally competitive STEM workforce.
Harrisburg University is one of the partners in the STEM Center Initiative and the University’s provost, Dr. Eric Darr, serves on the Leadership Team. The Leadership Team, under the direction of Governor Edward G. Rendell, provide the strategic oversight and input. The Pennsylvania STEM Center Initiative will create and coordinate a statewide infrastructure designed to motivate and prepare more students—from preschool through college—for careers in the STEM disciplines. The STEM Center Initiative will also support and enhance the development of effective strategies to retain, recruit, and retrain Pennsylvania's workforce. The Initiative will help bring together key stakeholders in technology education, research best practices of STEM education and help spread the message about the importance of technology education to local economies.
The partnership with the PA STEM Center Initiative links directly to our mission to offer academic and research programs at the undergraduate and graduate level in STEM disciplines designed to meet the needs of the region's youth, workforce, and businesses, and to expand, attract, and create economic opportunities in the region.
