The Future of Adult Learning will be the focus of a Town Hall Discussion led by Bilita Mattes, Associate Provost. The discussion is part of the meeting format at the 2010 National Institute on the Assessment of Adult Learning, scheduled to take place at Caesars Atlantic City on June 11. When it comes to careers, e-Learning pays. According to the 2010 Salary and Compensation Report, the average salary of a person who lives in the United States and works in e-Learning is $79,252. As information changes rapidly and new skills are needed to keep up with new technology, new strategies and new products, businesses must leverage the knowledge of their workforce as a competitive advantage. An investment in a Learning Technologies Master of Science degree at the University can pay big dividends and be applicable to a lot of environments.

The world’s first commercial computer, the Univac Computer, was unveiled on June 14, 1951 and the Apple II was released on June 5, 1977. Computers continue to evolve and to drive career opportunities. The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Salary Survey shows 2010 graduates earning computer-related bachelor’s degrees saw their average salary offer soar in comparison to the other disciplines: Their average offer rose 5.8 percent to $58,746. And, the average offer to computer science majors increased by 4.7 percent, bringing it to $60,426. Harrisburg University offers undergraduate programs and graduate programs that are pathways to careers in those fields.
