Please join us for Harrisburg University’s Alumni Day and Open House, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, September 13 in Strawberry Square. This event is an opportunity for us to honor our alumni, and other friends who have helped to fuel the University’s growth. There will be several major announcements, too. We are gathering in the First Floor of Strawberry Square in downtown Harrisburg. The evening includes tours of our new classrooms within Strawberry Square, updates on our $73 million Academic Center, and a series of hands-on demonstrations developed by Harrisburg University professors. If you have not done so already, RSVP your attendance prior to Tuesday, September 4, 2007 via email to Connect@HarrisburgU.net, or call 717.901.5129.

Our partnership with Harrisburg Young Professionals provides students access to higher education, and encourages them to remain in the capitol region after graduation. HYP recently gave a 5-year scholarship commitment to Harrisburg University. HU will award the $2,500 "HYP Scholarship" to a student from the Capital Region, preferably from Harrisburg. In addition to the scholarship, HYP offers free one-year memberships, normally $30, to Harrisburg University students. Students also have access to the HYP Passport, a card that can be used for discounts at stores and restaurants. HYP is creating for HU students both a professional and social base for their careers.

You can make an impact on a student’s life by becoming a mentor. We strive to pair all full-time undergraduate students with mentors who serve as guides to students, answering questions, giving advice, and helping them to learn more about their field of interest and about themselves. We strive to match you with a student whose interests closely match your professional experience. We hold Mentor Mixers each semester where you will have the opportunity to meet our students, learn more about the mentoring program, and work with your protégé to develop goals.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact Ryan T. Riley at 717.901.5140 or email Connect@HarrisburgU.net.
