The Parth Is Clear
Investments in STEM education will pay dividends far into the future. We recently thanked those individual philanthropists for the important role they have played in our progress during the 2007-2008 fiscal year with an advertisement that appeared in The Patriot-News. An interactive version is on our website.

Join the HAA for 2009
The Honorary Alumni Association is critically important to our new and growing University since we do not yet have an alumni base. Support at all levels allows you to invest in the future of an HU student, as well as the long-term prosperity of the Capital Region. As an Honorary Alum of HU, you will be joining more than 200 community, corporate, and philanthropic leaders who generously support student scholarships and academic programs at Harrisburg University.

Science Excellence
The American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) will bestow its Bruce Alberts Award for Excellence in Science Education in recognition of the tremendous impact of the National Science Foundation funded program Science Education for New Civic Engagements and Responsibilities at the University.

Project Leadership Essentials Workshop
The University and Technology Council of Central PA are partnering with the Humentum Corporation to present a two-day workshop aimed at preparing information technology project managers for greater levels of leadership. The simulation-based workshop, Project Leadership Essentials, is scheduled for October 16 – 17, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Dixon University Center, located at 2986 North Second Street in Harrisburg.

New HU Faculty

Dr. Amjad Umar has joined the University as Director & Professor of e-Business. He has written six books and more than 50 research papers in his areas of specialization that span e-business, enterprise architectures and integration, mobile computing, and information security. His 20+ years of experience in his areas of expertise includes academic assignments, senior research management positions in the industry, and consulting/advisory work around the globe. Additionally, he is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

New Technology
Emerging technologies are dramatically redefining the learning and working experience, creating a demand for skilled workers who can determine needs, evaluate options, design and develop solutions, communicate visually and assess outcomes. The University is responding to the demand by offering two new eight-week graduate courses that will begin on October 27.
