We’re taking an innovative approach to internships through our new partnership with the Carnegie Mellon University Entertainment Technology Center and the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania. Our students will be using a new software technology, Synthetic Interviews, to post virtual job interviews. The work underway in our new Center for Advanced Entertainment and Learning Technologies may revolutionize online interviewing and recruiting.

Please join us at 6 p.m., Wednesday, December 12th, in the Strawberry Square Atrium as we gather to commemorate the sixth anniversary of Harrisburg University’s 2001 incorporation. Known as Founder’s Day, December 12th represents the official founding of the University. The occasion also marks a major point in the construction of our new 16-story, $73-million Academic Center, scheduled to open in Winter 2008. We will celebrate reaching the highest structural point in the construction with the signing of the final beam.

Educators, students and industry professionals will gather to address education’s role in the “Bio Century” during Biotech Day on December 7th. Hosted by Harrisburg University, the free event features hands-on experiments, workshops, panel discussions, guest speakers, and other presentations. Biotech Day is a flagship event for education and industry. With its program of lectures, expert discussions, presentations and networking opportunities,
Biotech Day offers attendees access to decision makers from all areas of the biotechnology industry and education.

Our success to-date has been made possible by the generosity of many organizations and friends who have invested not only in the University but also the future of the region.  During the 2006-2007 fiscal year two hundred individuals contributed approximately $1-million in private support to the University.  We ran a full-page ad in The Patriot-News thanking these individuals and the important role their support has played.

Ms. Bilita Mattes recently joined the University as Associate Provost for Strategic Markets. She brings a wealth of experience and ideas to our growing Student Services area.  Her past experience includes serving as the Dean of Students and Director of Externship Programs at Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg.
