  • Money Matters on Campus: Financial Capability and First-Year College Students
    Your son or daughter's finances and ability to manage money will have an impact on their success in college. Wonder how? RSVP today for a free presentation that will give parents insights into college students' financial attitudes, behaviors and knowledge, and include a discussion of the relationship between financial capability and college success. This presentation will highlight the latest findings of Money Matters on Campus, a national survey of 65,000 first-year college students, conducted by EverFi and sponsored by Higher One. Lunch is provided. The event is set for noon to 1 p.m., September 18th. Ideal for parents, college students, educators and financial planners, the free event is part of the DiSanto Chair Distinguished Speaker Series in Financial Literacy.

  • HU Holds the Line on Undergraduate Tuition. No Increase for 2014-2015
    Harrisburg University of Science and Technology President Eric Darr today announced that the private university is holding the line against rising college costs by keeping its undergraduate tuition frozen at $23,900 for 2014-2015, keeping the school's tuition $6,700 below the average for private universities in Pennsylvania.

  • HU Sophomore Gabe Hicks Is Working to Make a Career in Animation a Reality
    When Gabe Hicks was younger, he watched cartoons on television as much as the next kid. However, while others were thinking about super powers, Hicks, now 20, was thinking about the technology behind the programming. He watched his favorite show, Sonic the Hedgehog, and imagined how he would create the images differently. He was fascinated with the action behind the scenes as much as the cartoon itself.

  • Dr. Peter Meek: Using Bioinformatics to Prevent Diseases
    Peter Meek uses computers to solve biological problems. Big, big problems like preventing HIV and curing malaria and blindness. Before becoming an Assistant Professor of Biotechnology and directing chemical design research at Harrisburg University, his research helped develop new lead molecules for treatment of HIV, Alzheimer�s, dry macula degeneration, anti-malarials, anti-cancer and anti-biotic agents by using three-dimensional docking encompassing Shape Signature technology.
