  • Free Lecture to Address Strategies to Improve Research, Innovation Performance and University Competitiveness
    We invite you to join us on August 26th for a special presentation by Dr. Francisco J. CantĂș-Ortiz, Professor and Provost for Research, Graduate Studies, and Entrepreneurship at TecnolĂłgico do Monterrey. During this free presentation that is open to the community, Dr. CantĂș-Ortiz will address the issue of team collaboration among professors and research staff for improving research and innovation performance indicators as well as university competitiveness. He also will explain how a set of academic, research, and innovation balanced scorecard indicators may identify strengths and weaknesses within a university, and how strategic actions could be adopted for improving university competitiveness at the regional, national, or international level with an impact on prestige and reputation and the attraction of talented students, grants, and enterprise contracts. This event will take place between noon and 1 p.m. on August 26th in the University’s Auditorium. You can RSVP at www.HarrisburgU.edu/RSVP Dr. CantĂș-Ortiz has published around 50 scientific articles in international journals and conferences and around 20 edited books. He is accredited as a National Researcher (SNI) by the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT) in Mexico. He has been general chair of about 15 international conferences in artificial intelligence and expert systems as well as 10 congresses on multidisciplinary research and development. His research interests include knowledge based systems and inference, machine learning and data mining using Bayesian and statistical techniques for business intelligence, technology management, and entrepreneurial science.
